So, here I am shopping around for a cellphone and cellphone plan. I’m looking at Alltel, Verizon, and Sprint. I am doing my research as to who has the best prices and such. I just got off the phone with Alltel trying to clarify their rather confusing website. Randy, the person whom I spoke with was rather rude.
From what I’ve heard, Alltel’s Customer Service has pretty much always been extremely rude to their customers. The conversation went something like this:
Alltel: Hello, my name is Randy. This is Alltel, the nation’s largest wireless network, how may I help you? (An obvious lie)
Me: Yes, I’m searching around for cellphone plans and I’m looking at the Greater Freedom plan for 39.99. On one portion of the website, it says I have Unlimited Night and Weekend minutes, Unlimited Mobile-Mobile, and 700 anytime minutes. However, under your compare plans section, it says the Greater Freedom plan for 39.99 has 1000 anytime minutes and no Night and Weekend minutes and no Unlimited Mobile-Mobile. I’m just trying to clarify which is which.
Randy: That’s because they are two different rate plans. Are you buying from the website?
Me: Yes.
Randy: When you purchase the plan, it will detail all of the features and what you have on the plan.
Me: Well, the Greater Freedom plan is for 39.99 on both pages, and I’m just trying to figure out which is which.
Randy: That’s because they are two different rate plans.
Me: Okay, thank you.
Randy: You’re welcome, thank you for calling Alltel.
What I’d like to know is how can there be two different plans with the same name for the same price and have different features?
I think I’m going to call Alltel back and have a bit of fun with someone’s manager. The cellphone saga continues.
So, I called Alltel back and spoke to another representative. She wasn’t as rude, but she certainly didn’t help me either. Her name is Mary.
I’m not going to write out the conversation this time, but basically it went the same way as last time. Apparently Alltel enjoys confusing their customers and potential customers. One part of the website says one thing, and another part of the website says another, and Alltel isn’t going to do anything to clarify it. Instead they are going to continue to rip-off their customers. I’m not sure I want to bother with contacting a manager at this point. As a potential customer, Alltel just lost me, and I’ll be sure to spread the word. Stay away from Alltel!
